The Summertime Garden Party, a new city festival, was scheduled to take place next weekend. However, organizers have announced today that the event has been cancelled due to insufficient ticket sales.
In an email to Norran, they explained their decision.
"We deeply regret to announce the cancellation of the Summertime Garden Party, scheduled for Friday, August 16 at Saraplatsen in Skellefteå.
Unfortunately, ticket sales have not met our expectations, forcing us to make this difficult decision. We've noticed a growing trend in Sweden of people purchasing tickets closer to the event date, which creates significant challenges for organizers who rely on advance sales to cover substantial upfront costs.
These costs include travel, artist fees, stage construction, and sound and lighting equipment, all of which must be paid well in advance. Despite our belief in the Garden Party concept, the risk and expense of proceeding with such low ticket sales have become too great.
We understand this is disappointing news and apologize for any inconvenience caused."
Bought tickets?
Those who bought tickets via Ticketmaster will receive an email with instructions on how the refund will be processed. If the ticket was purchased through the tourist center in Skellefteå, you should contact them.
Artists who were booked for the event included Miss Li, TUAI, and E-Type.
