Skellefteå Art Association will be hosting the exhibition "Woven Spaces" when it is showcased in the municipality. This exhibition offers a distinctive experience as the artworks are strategically placed in different locations throughout the community.
By downloading the "Woven Spaces" app, visitors can engage with and explore ten captivating virtual artworks situated in various public spaces across the municipality. For instance, you can enjoy a virtual jogging session with a companion, experience the thrill of being chased by a reindeer along the streets, participate in creating a collaborative word cloud, or join others in constructing a sculpture.
The technology employed for this exhibition is known as Augmented Reality (AR). It is the same technology that enables users to apply filters on themselves, such as transforming into a dog, in certain social media apps. Additionally, it is utilized by some furniture companies to allow users to test how a sofa would look in their own living room.
– It is a unique digital exhibition that can be visited at any time. All you need to do is download the app. Upon entering the app, the displayed artworks correspond to the physical location you are in. We, at Skellefteå Art Association, anticipate a high number of visitors during the summer, says Elisabet Bohman, chairperson of Skellefteå Art Association.
The exhibition consists of ten artworks, and as hosts, Skellefteå Art Association has had the privilege of determining their placement. Within walking distance from the city center, Skellefteå offers ten distinct art locations.
The artists participating in "Vävda Rum" are: Space Popular, Lundahl & Seitl, Oscar Häggström, Åsa Cederqvist, Untold Garden, Pastelae, Eric Magassa, James Webb, Adam James, SONG (Choterina Freer, Anna Kinbom, and Rut Karin Zettergren in collaboration with Paola Torres Núñez del Prado and Rosalie Yu).
