– Morgan Bohman was fishing in boat on a small lake outside Kalvträsk.
– I was there six years ago and thought it might be a good autumn destination.
After a quarter of an hour of fishing, he heard noises from the woods.
– I heard some slapping and thumping on the other side of the pond, but didn't think much of it at the time.
After a while, he turns around to see what it is.
– I've seen a swimming moose before, but this is was probably my first swimming bear.
He doesn't know what the bear was after.
– Whether it was an attack or just his daily swim, I don't know.
Bohman began to shout at the bear.
– I said "Hello" when it was halfway towards me. After the first few shouts, the bear's ears pricked up.
The bear came within 50 to 60 meters of Morgan's boat before turning around.
– I wasn't panicking. It probably had to swim another 20 meters before panic would have set in. I was in a good-sized boat so it seems unlikely that the bear would chased me around the lake.
He believes the incident was a just a bear on a casual swim being curious.
– If he'd walked around the pond to get where he wanted to go it would have been less effort.
The lake is deep in woods.
– The nearest settlement is probably seven or eight kilometers away. Not many people come here to fish, I don't think.
