The new preschool in Kåge is proposed to be located in a currently undeveloped area south of the town, between Högåsvägen and Gamla Kågevägen. The expanded plan calls for ten classrooms, accommodating 200 children, up from the original proposal of six classes.
The classrooms will be on a single level, while staff areas will occupy the second floor. Additionally, the preschool will have a large outdoor area of approximately 8,000 square meters. These details were confirmed during the latest meeting of the municipal board's working committee.
To alleviate traffic congestion on Högåsvägen, it is proposed to construct a new road leading to the preschool. The main entrance will be accessible from Gamla Kågevägen.
In the area between the new preschool and the Sörbyn residential area, which is currently being built, there will be space for new homes. The proposal shows that the new residential area will likely consist of terraced houses or apartment blocks. But it is not clear how many homes this may involve.
- How future residential developments could look is something that will be worked on in the planning assignment, nothing has been decided, says Per Degerman, administrator at Skellefteå municipality.
According to previous plans, a new preschool in Kåge would have been ready during 2024-2025, but the new timetable is somewhat unclear.
– But the time frame to develop a new detailed plan is about two years, says Degerman.
