It's the Varberg-based company Universal Kraft Nordic that has submitted an application to build a solar energy park.
Universal Kraft states on its website that it is active in Canada, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom. In Sweden, Universal Kraft Nordic has applied for solar parks in Laholm and Söderköping in 2023, according to local newspapers.
The current area is located near Fjällboda, a few kilometers east of Österjörn. It is currently an open area, according to the application.
The available area is 70 hectares, of which an estimated 60 hectares will be used for the park.
The planned facility will have a capacity of approximately 55 MW.
"The installed capacity may change depending on the choice of solar panels and the capacity of the grid. Estimated electricity production from the facility is approximately 57,500 MWh/year," the company writes.
In June of this year, the grocery company Axfood announced that it, in collaboration with Alight, will build Sweden's largest ground-based solar power park in Hallstavik near Norrtälje, using 71 hectares. For comparison, the total installed capacity there will provide an output of approximately 64 MW.
Universal Kraft Nordic aims, according to the application, to start construction of the solar park in one year and expects it to be ready by the summer of 2025.
