Aftonbladet reports that social media is abuzz with customers from various countries sharing news of shuttered McDonald's restaurants.

The problem appears widespread, affecting restaurants in Asia and Europe. For example, a Stockholm branch remained closed on Friday morning.

A sign at the entrance informs customers, "We're experiencing technical difficulties with our cash register system. We apologize for the inconvenience and will reopen as soon as the issue is resolved."

Similar reports are emerging from media outlets in Australia, Japan, and New Zealand. A spokesperson for McDonald's New Zealand confirmed to NZ Herald that the issue lies with malfunctioning digital ordering screens.

According to Bloomberg, a spokesperson for McDonald's Japan expressed uncertainty about the duration of the outage.
