Heroic turnaround by AIK – Sandberg overtime hero

After a very poor start Skellefteå AIK were two down but then Albin Sundsvik and Jonathan Pudas stepped up with a goal each and took the match to overtime. Once there, Filip Sandberg became a big match hero with his 3–2 goal to make it 3-2 in the quarter final series.

For Friday's clash between Skellefteå AIK and Rögle BK, AIK's first-choice goalie Linus Söderström was back in between the posts for the home team after missoing out on the 5-2 thrashing at Rögle earlier in the week. But even he couldn't inspire AIK to improve upon a very sluggish start, and they found themselves 2-0 adrift deep in the third period.

But two quick goals drew them level and then, nearly halfway through sudden-death overtime Joakim Lindström played a lovely pass to Filip Sandberg, who scored the winner.

– It was very nice. We were incredibly strong to come back in third and then we then just keep riding that wave in the fourth. I think we deserved to win after the third period, says Sandberg afterwards.

Game six is on Sunday. Win that, and Skellefteå are through to the sem-finals.
