The battles between Jimmie Ericsson and Joel Lundqvist were numerous. The rivalry between Skellefteå AIK and Frölunda continues.

In Thursday's clash between fifth-placed AIK and fourth-placed Frölunda, AIK showed their class. After an underwhelming first period, AIK rallied.

Elias Salomonsson returned to the team and brought an energy that reflected his passion and love for the sport. The 19-year-old's first shift resulted in two tackles and a penalty. AIK weathered the two-minute storm admirably.

In the second period AIK came out strong and it paid off. On a power play, Oskar Nilsson defied his critics and put the puck past Lars Johansson in the Frölunda net. Less than ten minutes later, AIK's newly formed third line, which was the best of the night, scored the second goal, making it 2-0, courtesy of Filip Sandberg.

Frölunda were completely outplayed in the second period, and although the visitors had a few half-chances, AIK were always more dangerous.

With a two-goal deficit going into the final 20 minutes, Frölunda came out stronger and had an early five-on-three power play opportunity. However, AIK managed to kill it off with hard work and the unbeatable Linus Söderström.

Shortly thereafter, AIK had a power play opportunity that sealed the game. Axel Sandin Pellikka took a shot and missed, but he got another chance and found the back of the net.

Game over, and three more points in the bag.
