The home team got off to a dream start in front of 5,801 fans at the Skellefteå Kraft Arena when Anton Heikkinen opened the scoring with just over a minute played with a precise shot past Jacob Johansson in the away goal.

The visitors then had a chance on the powerplay, but Gustaf Lindvall, who returned to action after his injury, was able to make the save with the help of his teammates.

Before the end of the period, AIK extended their lead to 2-0 with a goal from Dylan Sikura, who found the back of the net with a shot from the blue line. Arvid Lundberg and Pär Lindholm assisted on the goal.

AIK couldn't hold on in the first period as Anton Wedin scored for Timrå on a controversial call where the home team wanted an icing, but the play continued and Wedin put the puck in the net.

The home team started the second period as strong as the first and immediately took control and set the tone for the middle period. Despite the intense start, Timrå managed to work their way into the game and put some pressure on the AIK goal. Former AIK player Emil Pettersson came close, but his shot hit Lindvall's left post.

The equalizer came with 6:25 left in the period when Oliver Johansson capitalized on a mistake by young AIK defenseman Frans Haara and placed the puck into the top corner. Timrå also had a chance to take the lead before the period ended, but Lindvall stopped Magnus Pääjärvi's breakaway attempt.

In the third period, AIK had a chance on the power play, but they lacked accuracy and the game remained tied at 2-2.

With 3:27 left in the game, the home team were shocked when Anton Wedin, who also scored the visitors' first goal of the game, was allowed to skate straight up the middle and beat Söderström with a quick shot.

Before the end of the game, former AIK players Emil Pettersson and Magnus Pääjärvi added to the away team's lead with two empty net goals.
