One of the hottest teams in the SHL came to Skellefteå Kraft Arena and immediately made AIK pay for sloppy play.
After Pär Lindholm mishandled a pass in the neutral zone, Redhawk Carl Persson capitalized on the AIK center's mistake, finding himself in open space and firing home the first goal of the game to make it 1-0.
The first intermission proved beneficial for AIK's efficiency, as the score went from 0-1 to 2-1 just 160 seconds into the middle period. Within 48 seconds, the home team had tied the game and then taken the lead.
The equalizer was scored by rising star Axel Sandin Pellikka on a power play, when he fired the puck behind Malmö goaltender Adam Werner.
Just 48 seconds later, Filip Sandberg added his name to the scoring list when he redirected the puck off the leg of a Malmö defenseman in front of the net.
The victory elevates Skellefteå AIK to second place in the standings, closely behind the league-leading Färjestad BK.
On Saturday, AIK faces Leksands IF, who will be visiting the Skellefteå Kraft Arena.
