AIK got off to the best possible start. On the very first shift, their scorching first line set the tone. Filip Sandberg and Max Lindholm provided excellent setups for Måns Forsfjäll to score after just 28 seconds.
The arena was packed, creating a festive atmosphere that spilled over onto the ice. Modo had decided to press AIK and played with high and relentless pressure.
AIK responded by breaking out of the pressure periodically and creating many good opportunities on the counterattack. The first line made it 2-0 when Filip Sandberg buried a rebound in the 14th minute.
Inefficiency was a major issue for AIK at the start of the season. However, since the arrival of Andreas Johnson, that has changed. AIK didn't get their first penalty until the third period, but they made the most of it. Axel Sandin Pellikka scored with a direct shot to make it 3-0.
Modo was rewarded for their hard work shortly after. Sam Vigneault fought his way into the slot and put the puck behind Linus Söderström. AIK's last line of defense had been incredibly solid as usual, but was finally beaten.
AIK's efficiency on the powerplay continued when they got their second chance. Max Lindholm made it 4-1.
That was the final score after yet another strong performance from AIK. The first line of Max Lindholm, Linus Lindström and Filip Sandberg stood out once again. Linus Söderström was also very impressive in net.
AIK are on a roll with a total score of 11-1 in their last two games, and they're climbing steadily up the table.
