AIK's Champions League hopes soar after crucial win

Skellefteå AIK found themselves in a difficult position when Vitkovice scored two goals in two minutes in the first period of this Champions League semi-final first leg, but a brilliant performance from the red-hot Dylan Sikura ensured that AIK returned home from the Czech Republic with a good foundation for the return match in a week's time.

The same Sikura made it 4-2 in the third period when he took a pass from Oskar Nilsson and fired a direct shot into the top corner. AIK then comfortably controlled the rest of the game, and on the few occasions when Vitkovice threatened a comeback, Linus Söderström stood tall as the reliable last line of defense that he is.

The win puts AIK in a good position to reach their first-ever CHL final. The return leg will be played in Skellefteå next Tuesday.
