Playing on home ice in front of a raucous crowd, the Swiss champions took an early lead through Eliot Berthon and capitalized on a power play opportunity to regain the lead after Skellefteå AIK had equalized through Martins Dzierkals. Sakari Manninen and Daniel Winnik extended Genève-Servette's lead further in a mad minute before the end of the first period.

Despite a spirited comeback attempt in the second and third periods, Skellefteå AIK couldn't find a crucial equalizer. Anton Heikkinen's goal midway through the final period briefly reignited hope, but Genève-Servette held firm despite conceding a late penalty.

Skellefteå AIK, as usual, had more shots than the home side, but they failed to convert on multiple opportunities, which ultimately proved costly in their pursuit of victory. Genève-Servette HC, on the other hand, capitalized on their chances and secured their first-ever CHL title on home soil.
