AIK lose: semi-final hangs in balance

A packed Skellefteå Kraft arena came to the match hoping to see Skellefteå AIK progress to the SHL final, but instead the home crowd watched Frölunda dominate and take a 3-0 lead. AIK recovered well enough to take the match to sudden death but, this time, it was their opponents who snatched an overtime win to take the semifinal series to 3-2 in AIK's favor.

AIK had a terrible first period, meekly going down 2-0. The second period was more of the same, with Frölunda looking likely to score more goals. Skellefteå AIK did not create any good chances to score.

Finally, in the third period, Skellefteå AIK started to play well. They pulled two goals back through Simon Robertsson and Dylan Sikura, and then Filip Sandberg scored a tying goal with just four minutes left in the game.

The game went to overtime, and Frölunda won the game thanks to a goal from former Skellefteå AIK defender Linus Högberg.

The next game is in Gothenburg on Tuesday. AIK can't afford another performance as weak as that in the first 40 minutes of last night's game. This series is in the balance.
