Football legend Sven-Göran Eriksson passed away peacefully on Monday morning, surrounded by his family.

Eriksson, who had been battling pancreatic cancer, announced his terminal diagnosis in March. He revealed that he had less than a year to live.

Calle Linné, CEO of Eriksson's agency True Entertainment, said that Eriksson's passing was "swift and peaceful."

Following his cancer diagnosis, Eriksson received widespread support from the football world. He visited several of his former clubs and was celebrated for his contributions to the sport.

Several of Eriksson's former players sent messages expressing their appreciation for his coaching. England's former captain, David Beckham, visited Eriksson in Värmland as recently as June, with bottles of wine from significant years for Eriksson.

Eriksson, widely regarded as Sweden's greatest football coach, had a long and distinguished career.

A native of Torsby, Eriksson first made his mark at IFK Göteborg, leading the team to a historic victory in the UEFA Cup in 1982. This remains the only time a Swedish team has won a European title.

Following his success at IFK Göteborg, Eriksson embarked on a successful international career, managing several top clubs including Manchester City, Benfica, Lazio, Fiorentina, Sampdoria, and Roma.

His greatest achievement at the club level came with Lazio, where he won Serie A in the 1999/00 season. This led to him being appointed as the manager of the England national team, one of football's most coveted positions.

Eriksson led England to the quarter-finals of the 2002 World Cup, Euro 2004, and the 2006 World Cup. After his time with England, he managed national teams such as Ivory Coast and the Philippines, as well as club teams in China.

Sven-Göran Eriksson passed away at the age of 76. He is survived by his children, Lina and Johan.
