Since the inaugural Champions Hockey League season in 2014–15, AIK has been, more or less, a constant in the competition in which the best teams from Europe fight for the spot of being European champions.

On Sunday AIK will play against Czech side Pardubice before playing French club Rouen Dragons on Thursday next week. The first week of CHL hockey then ends with a trip to Finland and a game against Finnish champions and reigning CHL champions Tappara on Saturday next week.

The Swedish Hockey League, SHL, starts on September 14 when Modo from Örnsköldsvik, who gained promotion from Hockeyallsvenskan (the second tier of Swedish hockey) last season, visits Skellefteå for the opener before another 51 games will be played before the play-offs begins in spring 2024.

At the end of last season AIK club legend Joakim Lindström retired, but he has been replaced by Oscar Lindberg, who is back in Skellefteå after ten years of hockey in the USA, Canada, Russia and Switzerland. The ast time the double world champion played for his hometown team he won gold after a magnificent display against Luleå in the finals.

After last season's play-off final loss against Växjö Lakers, AIK will hope to grab the club's fourth Swedish championship next year – alongside competing for the CHL trophy.
