Gort, who hails from the Netherlands, has always harbored a childhood ambition to fly long-haul for KLM.

– I chose Green Flight Academy for the opportunity to fly electric aircraft and be part of a new era in aviation. They show that more sustainable aviation education is possible, and it was a perfect match for me, says Gort.

In addition to flight training and student life on campus, Jeroen finds enjoyment exploring the beautiful natural surroundings of Skellefteå. He also highlights the smooth transition he experienced as an international student he says.

- There are many international students and workers here. I immediately felt welcome, and I like Skellefteå very much.

The Skellefteå program, which began in August 2022, is groundbreaking – it's the world's first pilot training focused on sustainability, utilizing electric aircraft for a significant portion of the curriculum.

In 2023 alone, the flight school, boasting a fleet of three electric planes alongside four traditional aircraft, conducted over 2,400 takeoffs with the electric planes at Skellefteå Airport
