Paulina Brandberg (L), Minister for Gender Equality and Deputy Minister for Employment now comments on the deaths.

The minister welcomes the news that the police have reopened the previously closed investigations.

– It is terrible that three people have died, and it is of course very important that we now get clarity on what has happened, Brandberg says and continues:

– It is important to know what caused the deaths, both for the relatives and for the greater purpose of investigating how we should prevent something similar from happening again, Brandberg tells SVT.

SVT writes that the minister had intended to visit Northvolt after the first death last winter. However, the visit was canceled due to illness. Now, a new visit is planned to take place after the summer, during which the factory’s safety routines are to be closely followed.

– I think it is important to visit Northvolt and see how they work on these issues, Brandberg says to SVT and adds:

– As a minister, I do not get involved in individual cases, but I have the overall responsibility in Sweden for preventing these types of problems, and it is therefore important for me to follow this closely.
