Boliden reports a sharp increase in profits during the first quarter, with sales of approximately 21.1 billion kronor, an increase of 2.6 billion kronor compared to the same period last year.
The company inaugurated the expansion project in Odda, which is on track to become the world's most productive and climate-efficient zinc smelter.
Despite challenges in open pit mining, especially in Aitik, Boliden sees a strong future ahead, with recently acquired mines in Portugal and Sweden strengthening the company's position as a leading European supplier of base metals.
– I believe we are very well-positioned for the future, even amidst these volatile times, writes CEO, Mikael Staffas.
– We are not only expanding our mining operations for zinc and copper – we are also positioning ourselves as the leading European supplier of base metals, says Staffas.
