"Don’t they do this for a living?" Northvolt wages delayed again

Northvolt employees’ salaries may once again be delayed, the bankruptcy administrator announced on their website.

The reason is the process surrounding the state wage guarantee.

The process means that the bankruptcy administrator first needs to receive “necessary information” from Northvolt. This information must then be checked before the final decisions are sent to the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket), which handles the payments.

“For employees at Northvolt Ett, decisions were sent to Skatteverket on April 23 for about half the staff. The remaining half will be sent on 24 April,” the bankruptcy administrator announced on Thursday.

For employees at Northvolt’s other companies, the decisions will be sent to Skatteverket sometime during the week.

Once Skatteverket has received the decisions, further checks are carried out, which may take a few days.

“There is therefore a significant risk that payment will not be made until next week,” the bankruptcy administrator writes.

One ex-Northvolter told Norran:

– It's bad, especially considering the stress this adds for people who are already in a difficult situation – particularly those struggling just to stay in the country.

– They said it wouldn’t be an issue. Don’t they do this for a living? Why can’t they get it done on time?
