The German Design Award is a prestigious prize honoring exceptional design projects in various categories, including product design, communication design, and architecture. Awarded by the German Design Council, the prize promotes innovation and sustainable development in design.
Vidde's CEO, Christian Lystrup, credits the company's design success to a fruitful collaboration with the state research institute RISE and the iconic Italian design firm Pininfarina.
"We strive for a circular business model that reduces both costs and emissions over time. Circular design is fundamental to this approach. At Vidde, we believe in a circular future for mobility," says Christian Lystrup in a press release.
Xavier Blanc Baudriller, Pininfarina's senior vice president of product and experience design, believes that design is at its best when it prioritizes functionality while creating immediate appeal and long-lasting user satisfaction. He led a team of ten designers who contributed to the design of Vidde.
A key reason why Pininfarina, with its 700-strong design team, chose to collaborate with the small company from Jörn was the opportunity to be involved from the outset in developing a groundbreaking, ultra-sustainable vehicle.
– Working with Vidde to create the Vidde Alfa has been a truly exciting experience, says Baudriller.
The focus on modularity and circularity has allowed us to design a snowmobile with a longer lifespan.
In September, Vidde also received the American Green Good Design award, presented by The Chicago Athenaeum, an international museum of architecture and design in Illinois.
Production of the snowmobile will start as soon as the final validation process is complete, probably in winter 2025.
