The southern foyer of Sara kulturhus is currently buzzing with play. It has been turned into the world of Pettson and Findus, a popular Swedish children's story, available to watch on SVT play here. The old man Pettson lives with his lively, always trouble-making cat Findus in a classic Swedish red house in the countryside. Sara kulturhus now welcomes children to play with Pettson and Findus. Miranda Avander is one of many parents visiting with their children.
– This is fun for younger and slightly older children. My son Kian went in Pettsons workshop and has been there for quite a while now, Miranda says laughing.
Sven Nordqvist first wrote about the inventive old man Pettson and his talking cat in the book "Pannkakstårtan" (The Pancake Cake) in 1984. Since then, the books have inspired multiple film adaptations and theatre preformances. Even the SVT's 1993 Christmas calendar featured Pettson and Findus. It was called "Tomtemaskinen" (The Santa Machine).
Now the inviting exhibit which is based on the keywords "play, learn, read" is open to visitors at Sara kulturhus.
– It is so nice when Sara kulturhus makes an effort for the smaller children. We will probably be coming back here during the summer, says Miranda.
When Kian Avander, 5, comes out of Pettsons workshop and is asked what he thinks about the exhibit he keeps the answer short and sweet:
– Really good.
