Revolt was a flagship project for battery manufacturer Northvolt, intended to reduce their reliance on new raw materials by recycling end-of-life batteries.

The facility has been on the market since autumn 2024, as the previous Northvolt management sought to divest non-core operations, hoping to find a buyer.

Following the bankruptcy on March 12, bankruptcy trustee Mikael Kubu continued these efforts but has yet to secure a sale.

On Friday afternoon, staff were informed that Northvolt Revolt will be wound up in an orderly fashion.

"While negotiations with potential buyers continue, we informed the staff today that the business will close in May," stated Northvolt's press officer Matti Kataja. "No agreement with buyers has been finalised."

The machinery will be maintained in anticipation of a potential sale of Northvolt Revolt.

"My understanding is that this affects 65 blue-collar and 25 white-collar workers, totalling 90 people," added Matti Kataja.
