A man and a woman, both aged 35, were arrested and detained on suspicion of attempted murder in Skellefteå on Friday night.
The victim, a man in his 40s, was reportedly stabbed in the throat, according to information learnt by Norran. The violent crime took place in an apartment in Sjungande Dalen.
The injured man was transported to Skellefteå hospital. Later that evening, the police RLC officer, Mattias Jonsson, described his condition as "stable and not life-threatening."
On Saturday, multiple police patrols were dispatched to the apartment, to undertake a crime scene investigation.
A neighbor who lives in the apartment block where the incident occurred told Norran on Saturday afternoon that the suspected attempted murder was preceded by a fight earlier that evening.
– He had a cut in his throat and was bleeding, the neighbor said of the man who was taken to Skellefteå hospital for treatment.
Maria Linné, a police spokesperson, informed Norran at 4pm on Saturday that:
– Interviews were conducted with the victim during the day. The person is awake and alert.
It is thought that the victim and alleged attackers knew each other. This was not a random attack.
Fredrik Elveros, the victim's attorney, was appointed on Saturday. In a statement to Norran he said,
– My client was questioned by the police on Saturday afternoon, and I was present during the interrogation.
When asked to describe the violence inflicted on his client, Elveros replied:
– It was a close call, he was millimeters from death, given the severity of the attack. I can confirm that his health is stable, but I prefer not to provide any further details.
