600 creditors seek billions of kronor from Northvolt in US court

Battery manufacturer Northvolt is facing approximately 600 payment claims in a US court, totalling billions of kronor.
– Of course you are affected, it's a lot of money, says one creditor.

– It's not money we want to lose, but money that we want to spend on developing our company instead, said one creditor.

Global companies, including some from Sweden, Germany, the US, South Korea, and China, have filed these claims.

– Of course you are affected, it's a lot of money. It's soon up to 40 million kronor that we haven't been paid, a businessman who filed a claim told Sweden Radio Ekot.

– It's not money we want to lose, but money that we want to spend on developing our company instead. But we still hope that they will find a solution and that we will get paid in some way, the businessman continues.

The claims are part of Northvolt's chapter 11 restructuring process in a Texas court, targeting seven Northvolt entities. While some claims lack specific amounts, most range from 250 million to just a thousand kronor. Microsoft's claim exceeds 120 million kronor. The total amount is difficult to determine precisely due to potential duplicate filings.

Another business owner texted Ekot:

–  I hope that the reconstruction will make Northvolt strong again so that we can get our outstanding invoices paid.

Northvolt stated:

– One of the purposes of Chapter 11 processes is to ensure that various creditors are paid in as orderly a manner as possible. In a complex and large business, companies naturally work with many different stakeholders.
