The proposed model with electricity subsidies financed by so-called bottleneck revenues is in accordance with the regulations.
"EI assesses that the proposed model meets the requirements and has therefore decided to approve Svenska kraftnät's application," the Energy Markets Inspectorate writes in a press release.
The support to households refers to November-December 2022 and is estimated to total up to ten billion kronor.
It is not yet clear when the payment of the second support package to households will take place.
What is the electricity price subsidy?
The electricity price subsidy (elprisstöd in Swedish), is a one-time payment paid out to electricity users in Sweden based on energy usage over the last year, and is intended to alleviate the financial problems caused by recent high energy prices.
