Real estate website Hemnet reports that 7,640 houses have been sold so far this year, with nearly 4,000 selling below the asking price.
This suggests a more active market where buyers and sellers are finding common ground on pricing. Hemnet's market analyst, Erik Holmberg, attributes this to a more predictable economic climate due to falling inflation and the anticipation of the first interest rate cut.
However, the trend of selling below asking price has shown a slight improvement compared to last year, dropping from 55% to 51% so far this year.
Among January and February sales, Kalmar and Södermanland counties saw the highest proportions of properties selling below asking price (62% each), while Västerbotten saw the lowest (37%).
Holmberg suggests that the high number of below-asking-price sales is due to both the increased market activity and sellers maintaining relatively high initial asking prices.
