We, who live in northern Sweden, have witnessed in recent years the growth and scope of new industrialization, which brings us hope. With knowledge and innovation, we lead the green transition and create thousands of new jobs. The Swedish government played a vital role in contributing to this development in its time.
However, with the right-wing government and SD in power, we now have a leadership that not only cuts back on education and housebuilding but actively opposes the idea of change. SD denies science, opposes Sweden's lead in green technology and reduces investments in green industries. This will have an impact on the entire country, but it will hit our fossil-free projects in the north first. The Moderates follow suit and oppose investment in northern Swedish industries.
This is economically devastating! Sweden cannot fall behind in technological development. We must keep moving forward to remain competitive, or jobs and industries will move elsewhere in the world. But this also reveals the fundamental injustice of SD's politics.
They don't want the electricity produced in the north to go to our industries, but instead, they want it to be transferred to their voters in the southern beach houses, who refuse to see the contours of offshore wind power turbines on their horizon. To appease these voters, SD sacrifices jobs and welfare.
As is usual, with right-wing politics, the aim isto reduce Norrland to a raw materials colony. Extensive protests were necessary, not least from us Social Democrats, before SD and the government included Norrland in the electricity support.
Does Pontus Andersson, the SD representative for Västerbotten in parliament but who lives in Skåne, support his party's anti-Norrland policies?
The Sweden Democrats attracted votes in the north by promising to lower the fuel price by ten kronor. They turned out to be empty words. Now they have scrapped that election promise.
In the last election, SD did the same by promising to stop the flow of our tax money to the profits of independent schools and healthcare giants but then sided with venture capitalists. Apparently, SD's promises are just castles in the air. Now, they lead Sweden. They are the largest party in the government and use their power to attack jobs and future prospects in northern Sweden.
