The man is suspected of trying to kill a father and his son who were driving a car in Bygdeå on July 31 by shooting at them with a rifle, VK reported.

He is also charged with attempted murder for shooting at a woman in another car later the same day.

The last charge relates to the man, who is in his mid-20s, threatening two police officers when they tried to arrest him. The man allegedly pointed a knife at the officers and refused to drop it despite their commands. During the arrest, the man was shot in the leg.

According to the charges, the man held the knife in a manner that indicated he was ready to attack the officers. The distance between the man and the officers was approximately three to four meters. According to the prosecutor, the crime should be considered aggravated because the threat was significantly increased by the use of a deadly weapon.

An investigation shows that the man may have suffered from a serious mental disorder.

The man is also said to have talked about "the Virgin Mary, demons and that only God can save him" in the ambulance after the arrest, according to the preliminary investigation report.
