UPDATE: 10:30
It's a building belonging to Ternik AB, a laser cutting company in Åbyn that is engulfed in flames. The fire is believed to have originated from a fiber laser machine housed within the approximately 200-square-meter building. The company employs around 15 people.
– It's difficult to provide details at this time, said co-owner Martin Karlsson to Norran.
– Firefighters are still working to extinguish the blaze.
One person was present in the building when the fire broke out. They attempted to extinguish it initially but were forced to evacuate due to the rapidly spreading flames. Fortunately, there are no reported injuries.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
– It's too early to say for sure, said Karlsson.
– We suspect a filter might have ignited, but it's unclear at this moment.
There's no danger of the fire spreading to surrounding buildings.
– However, the building itself appears to be a complete loss, Karlsson added.
– Firefighters seem to be gaining control as they access the roof.
