The tax cut will cost a total of 11 billion kronor in the autumn budget.

The biggest percentage reduction goes to those earning the least, while the biggest absolute reduction will still go to those earning the most. The threshold at which the tax cut stops increasing is 38,000 kronor per month, according to the government.

– It's about making it more profitable to work, says Svantesson, emphasizing that this is even more important in a high-inflation environment.

For a family of a police officer and a nurse, the tax cut will be 14,000 kronor per year.

Over the weekend, Svantesson said that the Alliance parties M, L, KD and SD had agreed not to raise the threshold for state income tax in the autumn budget, which could finance the tax deduction, because it strengthens the treasury by 12 billion kronor

The threshold for state income tax would otherwise have been raised from a monthly salary of 51,000 kronor to 57,000 kronor.

– The choice between making another historical adjustment or ensuring that ordinary wage earners in other income classes also get a tax reduction, it is reasonable to do this. It is right, and it is fair, says Svantesson.
