Typically, Skellefteå Kraft renovates its substations when necessary. However, this time the company is investing in a new facility that boasts nearly double the capacity of the existing one.
The decision is driven by the increasing scarcity of energy and the robust growth taking place in northern Sweden. By constructing a more powerful substation, Skellefteå Kraft aims to better meet the region's energy demands and support its continued development.
– The energy investments in Bastuträsk will create better opportunities for those living and working in the area, as well as for individuals and businesses looking to establish themselves here, says Patrik Lillbacka, head of regional networks at Skellefteå Kraft, in a press release.
Construction is set to begin in spring 2023 and is expected to be completed during 2024.
