Earlier this year it was announced that Allmänna Arvsfoden (General Heritage Fund) would contribute five million kronor to the project, which according to estimates by Skellefteå Bangolfsklubb will cost a total of around ten million kronor. The remaining part is financed by equity from the club, loans and support from RF Sisu and also from Skellefteå municipality.
What is currently in progress at Eddahallen is that the old courses are being moved to Kusmark. When Norran visits, the first courses are on a flatbed truck.
– It feels almost unreal that what we have been waiting for so long is happening right now, says Charlotte Dybro as she stands looking at one of the courses being loaded.
The preparatory work on the major project has been ongoing for five years, and the announcement of the support from the General Heritage Fund was the decisive piece of the puzzle.
– It feels great. I have always said that it feels like being pregnant. And now we have arrived at the time of delivery, which will be long and difficult, says Charlotte and laughs.
They hope to reopen in early June 2024, with 18 new 'regular' golf courses and 18 adventure golf courses ready for action.
Doubling the number of courses has taken some planning. The range will be slightly expanded as part of the parking lot at the back of Eddahallen will be converted.
– At the same time, they will fill in and raise the ground next to Eddahallen's short side, which will also be used for the new courses, explains Mikael Warg.
The question many people ask is how the doubling of the number of courses will be accommodated, but Charlotte believes it will not be a problem:
– Since they will be in two different areas, we think it will still feel pretty airy. Sure, it will be a little tighter than it is today, but it is important to us and to the community that we keep that park feeling that we have today, she says.
