A hiker suffered a knee injury in the Jokkmokk mountains on Sunday, while a man was injured in a fall north of Kvikkjokk the following day. On Tuesday, another hiker required medical attention after an arm injury on the Kungsleden trail between Arjeplog and Kvikkjokk.

In response, police have issued the following safety advice:

  • Dress appropriately: Choose lightweight, breathable clothing that provides protection from rain and wind. Layering is essential for adapting to changing conditions.
  • Check the weather: Be aware of the forecast for your hiking area and respect the possibility of rapid weather changes. Avoid hiking in poor conditions.
  • Hike with a partner: Always hike with at least one other person and adjust your plans and equipment based on weather, terrain, and individual abilities. Inform someone of your itinerary.
  • Pack essentials: Bring snacks, extra clothing, and necessary equipment, even for short hikes.
  • Stay on marked trails: Following marked trails makes navigation easier and increases your chances of receiving assistance if needed. Remember that red crosses indicate winter trails, which may not be suitable in summer.
  • Protect electronics: Keep electronic devices, including mobile phones, close to your body to prevent battery failure in cold weather.
