The department is responsible to develop a customer adapted solution for the control equipment in modernization projects for our gas and steam turbine fleet.
Currently the futures energy systems are developed in a rapid pace and our department is contributing to find solutions for the increased demands that’s our customers face in regards of smaller grid tolerance, operation with renewable fuel and several other innovative solutions to use their equipment in a more effective way.
We now need to expand our engineering team with a Lead control system engineer for mods and ups projects. As a lead control system engineer you will be assigned to our more complex tasks and take lead in developing the customer solution for the control system in your delivery project. The project starts with analysing the customer site and scope of supply and ends with a in house test in our test facility. All engineering related to the control system that´s is needed is handled by the control engineering department and is coordinated by the lead control engineer supported by a sub project manager. As a lead control engineer usually, it will be possible to be part of the commissioning team on site and follow your project until hand over to customer.
We believe in a combination of working from our office in Finspång and from your home office and we try to find a balance between focused work and co-operation within the team, where you get flexibility in your week. Some part of the project is performed mainly on site in our test facility in Finspång.

How You’ll Make an Impact
- In the role as Lead control system engineer you will be responsible for the control system part of the project delivery to adapt and develop customer specific function
- At Siemens Energy you could evolve from your role as control system engineer as we support everything from R&D, project delivery, trouble shooting and commissioning for both new delivery and service mods & ups.
- You will take part in delivery adaptation, modification, development, etc.
- Through the teams continuously business development you will have the possibility to affect how the department will organize and perform projects in the future.
What You Bring
- You have experience in SIMATIC PCS7 and/or T3000, possibly previous knowledge of control system engineering.
- If you have previous knowledge from our steam turbines (SST-7/900 & Radial) or gas turbines (SGT-5/6/7/800) it´s meritorious
- To succeed in this role, you need good cooperation skills and be open to assist colleges within the organization.
- You need to be structured and driven in your day to day work.
- You need to be able to express yourself in English both in speech and writing and as we also deliver project within Sweden, Swedish is meritorious.
About the Team
The team consists of 10 control system engineers and operates within the complete gas and steam turbine fleet to perform modernization and upgrade project partially or the complete control system.
As of now the department has divided the project where a smaller part of the team specializes in migration of PCS7 and 800xA to the latest version and implementing cyber security. Remaining parts of the team are involved in larger modernization projects of the customers equipment where the most common project is to replace an old ABB control system to a modern PCS7 or T3000. We have an open conversion around problems and help each other in the project adaption when needed for more complicated tasks as OPC, virtual environments, turbine governor, functional safety etc.
Our Gas Services division offers Low-emission power generation through service and decarbonization. Zero or low emission power generation and all gas turbines under one roof, steam turbines and generators. Decarbonization opportunities through service offerings, modernization, and digitalization of the fleet.
