Department store manager Peter Forsberg talked about the new store at a press conference. See the clip below.
– This is a way to get closer to all our customers. It's fun for me as a southern Swede to be part of the Norrland expansion. It is very exciting what is happening in Skellefteå and it feels good to be a part of it, he says.
The store will be a planning studio of 124 square meters, which will be an Ikea "Plan and Order point".
Plan and Order points are smaller stores dedicated to kitchen, bedroom, and living room planning where customers can find home furnishing advice and expertise to help design their ideal space.
There are no physical items to purchase in-store but purchases made at Plan and Order points can be delivered to the customer's home
– Between four and six people will work in the store at Nygatan 52 which will open in June where the clothing store Berlins was previously located.
– We have said that we will establish ourselves where there are people and Nygatan is already popular, says Hennius.
