Dutch fair offers glimpse into life in Sweden's north.

Inland municipalities in the Norrland region are participating this weekend, April 6-7, in a large emigration fair in the Netherlands. The goal is to attract people to move from there to northern Sweden. This is an activity in the newly started project Move Up North.

The fair, Emigratiebeurs, is held in Utrecht and boasts 200 exhibitors, expecting to draw an estimated 12,000 visitors.

Four relocation guides representing Norsjö (Sofie Frohm), Malå (Wolfgang Mehl), Sorsele (Paula Perriens), and Lycksele (Jennifer Bleibdrey) will be on hand to generate interest in moving to the region.

All ten municipalities in Region 10, including Arjeplog and Arvidsjaur, are participating in the EU's Move Up North project.

This recently launched three-year project aims to establish effective relocation services in each municipality. These services will offer job market information, assist with official paperwork, and connect newcomers with community activities, meeting places, and potential employers.

Additionally, the project facilitates joint marketing efforts across Europe, fosters networking with other regions and job markets, and participates in fairs like Emigratiebeurs.

– While attending the fair wasn't initially planned, we realized this early opportunity to connect with potential newcomers was too valuable to miss, says Marica Lagerström, project manager for Move Up North, in a press release.
